Mel Shaw - Docks of San Francisco

On September 27th,1542, Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo became the discoverer of California. Having been continually promoted through the ranks in the armies of Spain, he was made admiral of a small fleet which was dedicated to exploring the Pacific Ocean.

The art of Mel Shaw tells the story of our conquistador forefathers, the prolific era of the "Gold Rush", and the native peoples which inhabited this choice land.
